Had a brilliant holiday in Carcassonne Aug 2009 Despite having very little French our efforts were acknowledged and we were pleasantly surprised at the helpfulness of the local populace. Weather and city very pleasant. Au Royal Hotel functional helpful and very reasonably priced and central to both the old and \'New City\' Only regret is we only had one week to spend there.
