Our Expert Review of Hotels in Rome, Italy
Rome, once the largest city in the world and the physical / spiritual birthplace of Christianity, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the European Union.
Located on the Tiber River and home to 2.7 million people, Rome serves as the capital of Italy and is now a modern, cosmopolitan city with majestic squares and unparalleled cultural, historical attractions.
Roman attractions include: The Pantheon, the best preserved Roman structure and considered by Michelangelo to be the “work of angels, not men”; the Roman Forum, once the heart of the Roman Empire and the center for commerce, politics, and social life; and the Colloseum which accommodated up to 50,000 spectators for sporting events and gladiator fights.
Within the city of Rome, visitors will discover Vatican City, a walled city-state established in 1929 by the Roman Catholic Church. The Vatican is home to the Pope and holds the splendor of St. Peters Basilica, St. Peter Square, the Sistine Chapel, exquisite Baroque and Renaissance architecture, and priceless works of art by the likes of Michelangelo.
Visitors will also be delighted to find friendly people, great cafes, fine restaurants, exciting night life, sophisticated shopping, and thrilling, high speed taxi rides.
Rome, the city of love and “La Dolce Vita” has a vast array of hotels from which to choose. We prefer hotels that are in the central city so you can walk to most attractions and take a bus or the metro to others. We are also sticklers for cleanliness and beds that don’t sag!
